Counter-Strike: Source SMG Tips

The category of SMG is relatively large, unfortunately for this group, only one gun is of any relevance. An SMG can, however, be a very good gun to first get frags, while learning your way around the bigger and more substantial guns.

Schmidt Machine Pistol (TMP)

  • Commonly Referred to as the TMP
  • 30 Round Clip with 120 rounds of additional ammo
  • Secondary Fire: None
  • Exclusive to Counter-Terrorist

A gun more for humiliating people then practical use. The benefits of the TMP are an ultra fast fire rate and an accurate shot at close range. If using, try to draw the enemy in close, and be prepared with your aim high while coming around corners, and pulling it downwards while spraying. Range will be your enemy. Shooting at distance, or even shooting anywhere but the head is going to require at least 6 - 8 shots for a kill. By the time you accomplish this, you’ll most likely be dead.

Ingram Mac-10 (Mac-10)

  • Commonly Referred to as the Mac-10
  • 30 Round Clip with 100 rounds of additional ammo (Shares w/USP)
  • Secondary Fire: None
  • Exclusive to Terrorist

Nothing good to say about this weapon. Another gun that you can use to humiliate the other team, or for fun usage during a pub. Accuracy is basically rolling the dice, the gun has one of the worst sprays in CS. Like with all SMG’s getting your enemy close will be your objective. Aim around the head to chest area and pull down drastically. Will take at least 6 - 8 shots to the body for a kill.

KM UMP45 (UMP)

  • Commonly Referred to as the UMP
  • 25 Round Clip with 100 rounds of additional ammo (Shares w/USP)
  • Secondary Fire: None

Extremely slow firing rate, decent accuracy but not worth the money. One benefit may be the damage. It is comparable, if not better than the MP5 at inflicting damage to the body, but with it’s slow firing rate, you’ll be lucky to get a few shots off before you’re dead.

MP5

  • Commonly Referred to as the MP5
  • 30 Round Clip with 120 rounds of additional ammo (shares w/Glock and Dualies)
  • Secondary Fire: None

We finally arrive at the cream of the crop in the SMG category. The MP5 is the only SMG you should ever consider buying in a real game situation. The MP5, while lacking in power is extremely accurate, and fires at a fast rate. This is a great gun to start out with, if you are new to CS. Its minor recoil allows a person to get away with rookie mistakes such as: running and shooting, bad recoil control, etc. Use the MP5 after a winning pistol round or in a situation that requires fire power at low cost.

ES C90

  • Commonly Referred to as the P90
  • 50 Round Clip with 100 rounds of additional ammo
  • Secondary Fire: None

A good all around SMG, but for the price you can purchase a Galil, which is a much better option. A 50 round clip is the highlight of this gun, giving you the capability to spray into large groups and cover yourself without the need of a reload. As with all SMG’s range is a factor, keep the enemy in short to mid range while firing.
