WeGame.com is a Gaming community, that strictly focuses on gamecasts and enables you to download software to record your gaming. It enables you to record action from various games such as: America’s Army, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, C&C 3, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4, CoH Series, Crysis, CS 1.6, CS: Source, DoD: Source, EVE Online, Everquest 2, World of Warcraft, etc.

As with most sites, this one requires you to sign up for an account. As annoying as this is, I can honestly say that this site manages to make this completely painless, and allows you to register while installing the recording software.

You are given options before you finish installing the software, whether you want to record in High Quality, or Web Quality. After testing High Quality recording on different computers of high speed, we experienced a very noticeable gaming slowdown. We do not recommend this option, unless you are on a top of the line machine. The Web Recording is of questionable quality, with very little to no slowdown during gaming. We hope in the future that WeGame will offer a middle of the road recording style, as they only offer recording options on either side of the quality spectrum.

Recording and uploading is a snap. The WeGame software allows you to bind a key, enabling you to start and stop recording at will. After you have finished gaming and recorded something you’d like the whole world to see, WeGame has conveniently built in a button that allows you to upload and post your video to the WeGame web site.

We also encountered various recording problems. During some sessions, instead of typical gaming sounds, we heard a constant hiss of static that made the recording next to useless. This happened during a majority of our recordings, in both HQ and Web Quality recordings. We also had a problem where the video would record, but would be unwatchable. The software is in beta, and it looks like they are aware of these problems.

The web site itself is cleanly designed, yet somewhat uninviting. It mirrors the fact that it is not yet a populated site, and that can be a problem in drawing in users.

Conclusion

Something of this nature will be popular, whether it be WeGame or something else, only time will tell. WeGame is on the right track, and if they can iron out the recording issues, and entice their target audience, we could see this site take off.

CS players, especially the new ones have a tendency to accuse, and throw around the word hacker in a manner that puts doubt on another player that plays well. It’s a shame, because others will join in when this player proceeds to do well, and from there it leads to an innocent party being banned or kicked from the server.

Learn to play the game well, before you go off accusing people of hacking without proof. Just because someone is capable of putting up high scores, or producing multiple head shots, does not mean they are hacking.
